Who we are
Complicit Studio (“Complicit”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for this website, complicit.studio. For anything in this policy, contact us at studio@complicit.studio. Complicit Studio Limited is registered in England and Wales, company number 17362640, registered office 72 Paris Street, Exeter, England, EX1 2JY.
What we collect, and why
Enquiries. When you contact us — by email, or using the Start a Brief form, which composes an email in your own mail app — we receive the details you choose to send: typically your name, email address, company, and a description of your project. We use them to respond to you and, if we work together, to deliver the project. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and the performance of a contract where one follows.
Hosting logs. This site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical data such as your IP address and browser information in server logs to deliver the site securely. Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
Fonts. The site’s typefaces are served by Adobe Fonts (Adobe Inc.). When the site loads, your browser requests the fonts from Adobe’s servers, which involves processing your IP address. Adobe’s privacy policy applies to that processing.
Embedded films. Project pages embed films hosted on Vimeo and YouTube (we use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode). When you play an embedded film, those services may process your data and set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
Cookies and analytics
We do not set our own cookies and we do not run analytics or advertising trackers on this site. Third-party embeds (above) may set cookies when you interact with them.
How long we keep your data
Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any work that follows, after which they are deleted in the ordinary course of managing our inbox. We do not use your details for marketing and we do not sell or share them with third parties, other than the service providers named above.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email studio@complicit.studio. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If how we handle data changes — for example if we add analytics — we will update this policy and the date at the top of this page.
